Unlike some people, I don't get Columbus Day as a holiday from work. This year, I decided to make my own fun, so I took Friday off, giving myself a three-day weekend anyway. I was out of town and taking a much-needed break from my cell phone and computer, and completely forgot about the High-Five Friday post.
This morning, as I brushed up on celebrity news before work, I came across several happy announcements about some great Hollywood couples. I realize it's not Friday and this post is a little late, but I wanted to give out a few high-fives for the good news this Monday morning:
1. Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas are engaged.
Ever since her He's Just Not That Into You days, I've been a big fan of Ginnifer Goodwin. She perfectly encapsulated that part, and since then, I've enjoyed watching her transform for each role.
When she became Snow White in ABC's Once Upon a Time, her on-screen chemistry with Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) was undeniable. When I found out they were officially dating, I may have squealed, because I care a lot about the happiness of celebrities whom I don't know and will never meet.
And now they're engaged! High-five, guys, for being so daggone adorable!
2. Rose McGown marries artist Davey Detail.
One of my all-time favorite shows is Charmed. Laugh if you will, but there was something about the bond of sisters—a bond I have never experienced—magic and that gorgeous Victorian House that just drew me in. I watched re-runs on TNT for years and then invested in the DVDs so I could watch anytime.
Rose McGowan joined the show after the third season when Shannen Doherty left the cast. I was mad at Shannen, but also doubtful about this Rose actress. I figured there was no way she could fill the void of the lost sister, Prue. And man, was I wrong. Rose stayed on Charmed until the end. It was fun watching her change her hair color, learn to be a sister and date a bunch of guys before finding her happy ending on the show.
And now she's finally found her happy ending in real life. Way to go, Rose! High-five!

3. Lauren Conrad and William Tell are engaged.
Did any of you also spend your college years watching the drama of The Hills unfold every week, anxious to see what would happen next and wishing that Lauren would date a guy who deserved her? She definitely dated some duds (::cough:: Jason ::cough::) and some hotties (Oh, Brody) but no one seemed to be the right fit.
A few years ago, she was dating Kyle Howard (House Arrest, anyone?) and I thought maybe she'd finally found her match. Sadly, that romance fizzled and as details emerged about his overwhelming ambition, I felt sad that Lauren had once again been with a guy who may not have been truly genuine.
Soon after that, rumors swirled of a new romance for our Laguna girl. Though other sources confirmed the match, Lauren stayed mum about her new relationship with musician William Tell. Her effort to keep this part of her life private gave me hope that she had finally found someone worthwhile. And now they're getting married! I am so excited for her, and I also secretly hope she'll send me an invitation. I promise to only Instagram three or four photos.
High-five, Lauren, for waiting for the right guy!

And last but not least...
4. Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici announced their TV wedding date.
Monday is my favorite day of the week when The Bachelor/Bachelorette airs. The rest of the time, it's the worst.
I used to scoff at this show, and then I started watching it and became a fan. I even introduced co-blogger, Emily, to the madness and hilarity and now she's equally as obsessed. (Peer pressure does it again!)
Usually the guys on The Bachelor don't seem to be there for genuine reasons. Considering that out of 17 seasons of The Bachelor, only one of the guys has ended up married to someone who was on his season, I think our assumption of their lack of sincerity is pretty spot-on. But I root for the couples anyway. The show is entertaining, funny and who doesn't love happy endings?
We enjoyed watching Sean's season. Sean seemed different than guys from the past, and his connection with Catherine was obvious from the beginning. Like a nerd, I follow them on Instagram (awaiting news on their TV wedding, of course) and they seem like an ordinary couple; having fun, being goofy and just living life as fully as they can.
January 26 they will be married on TV. Be there or be square.
High-five for setting a date, you two!
