Sean and Catherine are one of my favorite Bachelor couples—and thanks to the constant stream of chatter on my Twitter feed last night, it's clear I'm not alone in my fandom.
I knew they were meant to be during their hometown date, when they walked around the Seattle markets, making goofy faces and being silly. I was so happy when I was proven right. Their playfulness is adorable and infectious, and a reminder of how important laughter is in a relationship.
When their TV wedding date was announced, I'd marked it on my iPhone calendar—complete with an alarm—because I couldn't wait to see the production ABC had in store for these two lovebirds.
The broadcast was a bit different than those of past Bachelor weddings. ABC seemed to focus on the wedding night a little more than the marriage itself, but considering their abstinence has been the biggest news-making aspect of their relationship, I guess ABC thought they were giving the people what they wanted.
Other than a serious overuse of the new Catherine-ism "grown sexy," I really enjoyed this broadcast. Almost a year after their engagement, it's still clear how much they love each other and how well they fit as a couple.
I may have shed a few tears, thanks to Sean. He cried when he saw Catherine in her dress for the first time, teared up a little during their vows and then cried as they walked down the aisle because he was so happy. After that, I couldn't handle the sweetness, so I consoled my current broken heart with homemade brownies. Because ... comfort.
Seriously though, everyone. Look at the grins on the faces of the new Mr. and Mrs. Lowe:

Other than the sweet factor, there was a lot of hilarity in the 2-hour special. These were my favorite moments:
- Explanation of "grown sexy." In her efforts to make Sean understand the wedding theme, Catherine gives him the example of Robin Thicke. Most of the Twitter world—myself included—was baffled by this, because we did not have that comparison in mind.
- Sean lingerie shopping. I can't even describe how hilariously awkward this experience was for viewers, so I can only imagine how awkward it was for the woman helping him in the store.
- Bridal party numbers. Catherine tells Chris Harrison she has 12 bridesmaids. Sean only has nine and says, "I would've been OK with four." While watching this broadcast, the poor groomsmen will probably self-consciously wonder, "Was I one of the essential four?"
- Ali Fedotowsky's presence. A couple hours before the wedding, she Instagrammed a picture of herself in a beautiful pink dress, all ready for the Grammys, and she hosted a show on the red carpet. Not long after that, she was shown in a yellow dress walking behind Chris Harrison at the wedding, begging the question whether ABC was being honest about the broadcast being "LIVE," or whether Ali has a body double/identical twin. (I tweeted her that very question and am still awaiting a response.)
- There was a commercial break... where it appeared that the entire wedding party, guests and camera crews prayed silently until the ABC producer gave them the go-ahead to continue.
