As Leo Tolstoy once said, “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” And weddings.
When the frost starts to melt off of the trees (and our hearts) and we’re greeted with budding trees and flowers, moods naturally lift. What better time to think of love than when the world is in bloom, happily greeting us each morning with promises of growth and cheer?
Thanks to nature and her beauty, spring has long been a favorite time for getting hitched. In fact, in exactly one week, one of my dear friends will be standing next to her love, saying ‘I do.’

A little over two years ago, when she asked us to be in her wedding, we had no hesitation. Agreeing to stand beside her on the most important day of her life was a no-brainer. But a little over two years ago, we felt we had all the time in the world until her wedding arrived.
In our friend group, lives got busy. There were a couple moves, job changes, a baby growing into a toddler, a couple visits thrown in there, and next thing we knew—it was 2015! Five months to go, and we had plenty to keep us busy. Get our dresses, get our shoes, figure out what to do with our hair (I’m still deciding), plan and execute bachelorette weekend festivities. Suddenly, five months was down to two and now, we’re a mere week away.
To get me extra psyched for next week, I’ve been plotting my packing and prep lists for the trip. I’ve also been trying to watch as many wedding-themed movies as possible, up until the big day.
As soon as the 1st of May hit, I started digging through my trunk of movies to find those gems I knew I needed to watch. (What can I say? I’m a sap for a love and a sap for friend’s weddings.) Trying to fit 13 movies into two weeks' time is a little ambitious, but I like a challenge!
If you like to watch wedding movies before wedding season is in full swing, or you’re just looking for good chick flicks, here’s a great list for you, MISSadventure approved:
