Emily and I love Christmas. We're not shy about it, either. Recently we were talking about our favorite holiday movies, and we wondered what our friends would have to say. So we asked.
Our questions were simple:
What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Why?
And we got a lot of responses.
For our first post, let's talk about Favorite Christmas Movies, of the animated kind.

For our first post, let's talk about Favorite Christmas Movies, of the animated kind.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original, animated version) — Growing up, it was always a tradition that around Christmas we would go to my aunt's house and have a sleepover with all the cousins. We would watch this movie and celebrate the holidays together. Now, it doesn't seem like Christmas without watching this movie; it brings back childhood memories of spending time with family, which, after all, is what the holidays are all about!

Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (the claymation version) — Oof, how do I pick one Christmas movie? There are so many! But I think, maybe, I have to go with the claymation Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I would watch it every single Christmas (multiple times!) and I love the Island of Misfit Toys. I do have to say that I love that whole series of Christmas movies (Rudolph, Frosty, The Year Without a Santa Claus, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town). They remind me of being a little kid and all the magic that surrounds the Christmas season.

A Claymation Christmas Celebration — Dinosaurs Herb and Rex host a Christmas special about Christmas carols. It's crazy claymation and it's awesome. They seriously have the best version of "We Three Kings." It puts other versions to shame. This show was also on the magical tape of Christmas movies. If you have not watched this, I highly recommend taking a half hour out of your day to do so. (Also, it's a show hosted by dinosaurs.)

A Charlie Brown Christmas — Back in the early '90s, my mom taped a bunch of Christmas cartoons on VHS for us to watch. A Charlie Brown Christmas was at the helm of the tape, and every year as I heard the familiar introductory piano music—specific to this cartoon special—I would immediately feel overcome with Christmas spirit. As I grew older, I would watch this VHS as I wrapped presents and it became a tradition for me. Sadly, this year the tape stopped playing. RIP Children's Christmas Cartoons, with your Ronald McDonald and weird 7UP commercials. Something tells me the DVD won't be quite the same.
